WESTBURN SKATEPARK

Each year at Westburn skatepark, skateboarders from all over the ‘deen come to chill in the sun, drink some warm beers, eat some raw sausages and listen to drunk men karaoke to AC/DC and Blondie. The idea behind Battle o’ the Burn is to bring the Aberdeen skate scene together for a day a shredding and to crown the best skater of the day as King of the Burn.During the day prizes could be won for landing a banger of a trick, getting naked(Stu Brown, exposing himself on the mini ramp. He soon put his clothes back on once he realised how close the play park was to the ramp) or for having great facial hair(Mike Hume, handle bar moustache).Scott ‘Andres’ Anderson and Duane Stuart won a bundle of prizes each respectively for popping 47 inches over the high bar, and Mike Hume also won himself some goodies for displaying a nice array of grabs over the bar too.The day came to a close around 9pm with the crowning of the king. Along with being crowned Husayn Smart also got asked to ride for the Boarderline team. Husayn celebrated the day by getting suited and booted and dancing the night away in Liquid. If he continues doing this I mite have to review his place on the Boarderline team. Thanks go to Transition Skatepark for lending there sound system, RockStar for all the free crates of energy juice they provided, Volcom and Revival Distribution, Simon at Boarderline and a massive thanks to Dave Lane for producing a great atmosphere on the mic.
